All of our tutors are fully qualified and experienced native French teachers, who specialise in teaching French as a Foreign Language. We offer a well-defined learning pathway, a wide variety of courses, a choice of timetables and the possibility of preparing for a diploma, all with the friendly atmosphere and personal attention that stems from learning in a small group.

Stéphanie d’HaussyManager and Teacher based in Dartington
I grew up in Roanne, a small town in the Massif Central, and studied History in Lyon. My desire to live abroad and learn English took me to Ireland, USA and England where I completed a PGCE in Modern Languages at the University of Exeter. I’ve been managing Alliance Francaise-Devon since 2004. For me, speaking a foreign language has been mind opening and I wish to share this ability with everyone, along with my love for dark chocolate, swimming in the sea and French literature.
Séverine BarèsTeacher based in Exeter
A native of Aquitaine, I studied in Bordeaux and obtained a Master’s degree in teaching French as a foreign language. I worked in Ireland and Switzerland before settling in Exeter where I joined Alliance Française-Devon in 2004. I want to give learners the opportunity to learn how to speak French in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. After meeting me, you may soon guess my guilty pleasure: gastronomy! I also coordinate Le Ciné-Club, which has become very popular over the last three years.
Julien MorvillersTeacher based in Exeter and Dartington
I am Julien from Paris. I first worked in business and then moved to London to become fluent in English. There I obtained a certificate to teach French and went on teaching French in Germany to international students before joining Alliance française-Devon in September 2017. I enjoy teaching adults as well as children. I am now learning Mandarin Chinese, and studying for the DAEFLE (Diplôme d’aptitude à l’enseignement du français langue étrangère). I love languages and I find foreign cultures fascinating.
Stephanie DibyTeacher based in Dartington and Exeter
I was born and grew up in Provence, with lavender fields, olive trees and the sound of cicadas on a warm summer night. With a degree in anthropology and a teaching certificate from Montpellier, I have worked in France, Colombia and the USA. I have just arrived in England, and I can’t wait to share my passion of teaching and my enthusiasm with my classes. I speak English and Spanish, absolutely love travelling and reading, but can’t resist a glass of wine with a good movie.
Alain PézardNot teaching this term
I was born in Cluny, Burgundy amongst vineyards, medieval churches and cows. I studied Fine Arts in Dijon, fell in love, and moved to England in 1989. I worked as a Stage and Costumes Designer for many years before settling in Devon. Now I very much enjoy teaching at Alliance Française-Devon and meeting new people. Talking about art and cycling are some of my favourite topics. I have found speaking a foreign language to be hugely rewarding, and I wish to encourage other people to access this great pleasure.
