La "Nouvelle Vague" or "The New Wave" was a rejection of classical cinematic form by a group of young French filmmakers in the late 1950s. Their low budget approach helped directors such as François Truffaut, Jean Luc Godard and Claude Chabrol get a more honest form of cinema, portraying with exquisite beauty the life of youth, fashion and urban life . We will be exploring the work of some of its most prominent pioneers and in particular the work of François Truffaut. "Les 400 Coups", 1959, de Francois Truffaut will be shown in the afternoon. £40 (or £35 if paid 10 days in advance)
